In this interactive session we will describe the key components of a Mechanism of Disease (MOD) map and then do hands-on work in small groups to create an MOD map for a given condition.
Learning Objectives:
1) Describe the importance of clearly defining the underlying pathophysiologic insult leading to the presentation of a given clinical condition.
2) Map Select the basic science concepts underlying the causal explanation of a given clinical condition.
3) Explain how the interplay between integrated illness scripts and mechanisms of disease maps make explicit three levels of cognitive integration.
4) Discuss how Mechanism of Disease maps foster transfer of basic science understanding into clinical thinking.
