Why do you want to be a doctor?

“My grandfather was a physician in Panama and was the youngest of seven. He was the only one to go past 6th grade and he overcame a lot of barriers to achieve his goals and dreams. He’s always been my inspiration and one of the main reasons why I wanted to become a doctor. I keep a photo of him in his lab coat and stethoscope in my backpack on me at all times.”

Why did you choose the Burnett School of Medicine at TCU?

“The early clinical exposure is what sold me in the beginning. It was such a huge benefit, and it came across during my rotations. I felt more comfortable and confident speaking with patients.”

What’s one thing your classmates don’t know about you?

“I can do a thousand-piece puzzle in one sitting. It’s a secret talent, but the talent is more so that I can stay seated for that long, which is very uncharacteristic of me.”

What’s next for you in your medical journey?

“I will be starting my Orthopaedic Surgery residency at UT San Antonio, and I am so excited. It’s a five-year-long residency, so I’m in for the long haul, but it’s truly been a dream of mine since before I started medical school.”
