A Burnett School of Medicine student is compassionate, empathetic and prepared to discover the latest knowledge in medical care and equipped with the tools to ask and answer the medical questions of the future. Fitting to our mission, prospective students will be asked to demonstrate skills, knowledge and abilities in several core competencies, some of which are general for any entering student and others that are specific to our medical school, throughout the application process.

Screening
Applicants will undergo an extensive screening process that seeks to assess the non-academic and academic characteristics of a future Empathetic Scholar®. Due to the complexity of the screening and the individuals involved, an electronic notification will be sent at the conclusion of the review process; applicants may upload updates to their portal (e.g. letters of intent, letters of interest, professional updates, letters of support, etc.).
Applicants that wish to withdraw their application must e-mail mdadmissions@tcu.edu.
Interview Process
Selected applicants will be invited to a three-day virtual visit to learn more about the medical school.
- Sunday evening is an optional student ambassador led session on Zoom.
- Monday afternoon is when applications will complete multiple mini-interviews via the KIRA platform, then engage with our Founding Dean, Stuart Flynn, M.D.
- Finally, on Tuesday we will end with a mandatory open forum that includes a variety of deans and leaders throughout campus.
