Faculty Recruitment and Appointment

Faculty recruitment and selection is initiated by the chair of the involved department or other hiring authority with the dean’s approval.

The Burnett School of Medicine provides all faculty appointments for the purpose of supporting the academic missions of the school. Faculty appointments are granted for purposes that support the educational, research, clinical care, and community missions of the school.

The Burnett School of Medicine grants faculty appointments to qualified health science professionals in recognition of their diverse contributions to the mission of the Burnett School of Medicine.

The Burnett School of Medicine appoints faculty to non-tenure track, non-tenure eligible faculty ranks:

  • Assistant Professor
  • Associate Professor
  • Professor

For individuals who will engage with students less than 20 hours per year, the department chair in collaboration with the respective course and/or curricular leader may request a visiting faculty appointment.
