Our team, in collaboration with Ayvaunn Penn and the Department of Theater, will host the second biannual play festival which focuses on the dialogue between medical professionals and patients. This year’s theme focuses on maternal health, and the effective, or ineffective communication between women and their providers. Click here to submit a play or monologue.
The second biannual Stethoscope Stage (SS) play festival is being hosted by the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at Texas Christian University in Fall 2024. With unsettling statistics around maternal mortality rates in the United State of America and stories such as those of Kyira Adele Dixon, Serena Williams, and most recently Kate Cox at the forefront of press and national conversations, this year’s festival theme reflects on maternal health and effective — or ineffective — communication between women and their healthcare providers. Per our custom, SS 2024 will consist of an approximately one-hour staged reading of selected plays and monologues followed by a panel discussion led by medical professionals. This is a free event open to the public, but seat reservations are required.
